"Down and Dirty in Deadwood"

The Prospector                                        Stage #1

10 rifle, 10 pistol, 4 shotgun

Scenario:   Gold was discovered in a narrow canyon known as Deadwood Gulch, named because of all the dead trees that line the canyon walls.  You’ve spent the last few days panning for gold and have been luckier than most.  After filling a couple of sacks with nuggets you load up your horse to ride into town and cash them in.  As you’re about to tie up your horse to the hitching post in front of the bank, a band of ruthless outlaws ride in behind you with guns drawn looking to steal your gold.

Bullock’s Hardware Store              Stage #2

9 rifle, 10 pistol

Scenario:  You have just finished helping Seth Bullock and his partner Sol Star set up their hardware tent.  As soon as they open for business three liquored up Muleskinners stagger into the tent.  Before anyone can say a word to them they start falling into each other and making a mess of the store.  You’re worried that they’ll mess up your friend’s new establishment so you ask them to leave.  In their condition they don’t take too kindly to being told what to do.  The tall lanky one grabs some merchandise from the shelves and runs out into the street.  Then one pulls a knife and his buddy pulls a pistol, you have no choice but to defend yourself and the store.

Room for one more                                Stage #3

Scenario:  E. B. Farnum, proprietor of Deadwood's Grand Central Hotel, has just told a mean-looking gunslinger that all the rooms at the hotel are booked.  Jokingly, Farnum tells him that the only way he'll get a room tonight is to kill one of the guests. The hombre turns around and sees you seated at a table having a drink of whiskey with your new friend, Charlie Utter.  He calls across the room, "Hey, you in the corner---I have no place to sleep and I'm taking your room," as he draws his pistol.

Ambushed!!!                                       Stage #4

10 rifle, 10 pistol, 3 shotgun

Scenario:  After being acquitted of the Murder of Wild Bill Hickock, Jack McCall gets on a horse and leaves Deadwood quickly.  Seth Bullock’s anger is still festering after the death of his friend and he can’t take it any more.  He rides out after McCall but runs into problems on the trail.  He gets pinned down in an old abandoned cabin by a Sioux war party.  He can’t afford the distraction – time is ticking and McCall’s trail is getting cold.

Down by Spearfish Creek                 Stage #5

10 rifle, 10 pistol, 4 shotgun

Scenario:  Your name is Potato Creek Johnny and your sick and tired of odd jobs and people bossing you around, so you decided to become a prospector and stake out a claim on part of the Spearfish Creek.  At 4'3" it was easy for you to squat in the creek and you spend every waking hour panning for your fortune.  While looking for nuggets you think to yourself, "Nobody got shot yesterday.   It's getting dull around here."  Then you feel a THUD, when you look down in the pan you see a nugget the size of a turkey leg! All of your whooping for joy attracts a band of nearby unsavory road agents. "We'll take that, you puny runt," they say as they draw a bead on you.

Cheated                                             Stage #6

10 pistol, 6 shotgun

 Scenario:  The lawless region of Deadwood naturally attracts a rough and shady crowd.  The dance halls, saloons and gambling establishments are always busy and often lead to plenty of trouble.   You’ve had a bad run of luck at one the poker tables in the Number 10 saloon.  Wild Bill, Big Thumb Jake and Buckskin Johnny have gotten the best of you.  You’re down to your last twenty dollars and Buckskin means to clean you.  He says, “One more hand, twenty dollar ante, best of five wins.”  You’ve come this far so you ante up.  You beat Wild Bill’s pair of queens with two small pair of your own until Buckskin flips over his three Aces!  Just as he reaches for the pot, another ace falls out of his sleeve and his three of his pards start moving across the room towards you from the bar… You’ve been cheated and there’s gonna be trouble!

Shootout at the Wu Pigsty                Stage #7

8 rifle, 10 pistol, 6 shotgun

 Scenario:  You've just arrived on the last wagon train and being new in town you don't yet know about the way things are run in Deadwood.  There was another stabbing last night in the Gem Saloon and Dirty Dan Dority has to dispose of Al Swearengen's handiwork, again.  As you are walking past Mr. Wu's place, you notice a couple shady looking ruffians heading out back towards the pigsty with a body in a wheelbarrow. "Out of my way, s&$%head," one of them yells at you as they go for their pistols.
